Enjoy the Ride

I read something the other day that really got me thinking. "When you plant seeds for something new, it always takes time for them to grow." Many times I forget that during the craziness of the day. Most things in our life are almost instantaneous. It is so easy to have what I am looking for right this minute. This happens so often that when something is not instantaneous, I become very insecure. I think that there must be something wrong with me, that I fell short. Sometimes I forget that some of the best that life has to offer takes a bit of patience and failed tries. I need to cultivate patience with myself and realize that the journey is part of, not just the beginning of, the thing I need itself.

I want my home business to be an instant success. I believe and am so excited about the products that I have chosen to sell. I just need time for my planted seeds to grow.

We Need Subsidies for Fruits and Vegetables!

I knew that meat and dairy were subsidized by the government. But I never thought about how much. I read an article today that said a hamburger could cost $35 to produce, but costs only $1.50 at a fast food restaurant because of farm subsidies. That is huge!!! That is mind-boggling! That is unacceptable. Our nation has reached epidemic proportions of the number of obese men, women and children and most claim that it costs too much to eat healthy fruits and vegetables. It costs less money to eat crap! Wouldn't it be great if meat would cost more and local fruit and vegetable growers could get the govenment subsidies to bring their prices down. Most medical advisers agree that to be healthy we much reduce our consumption of meat and increase our intake of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Why shouldn't the way our government spends money reflect the best interests of its citizens? I will never look at a hamburger in the same way ever again.

Laundry Detergent

I have been using Free and Clear, environment friendly detergent for about 4 years, because everyone in my family has sensitive skin. I do not mind paying a little more for eco friendly detergent as long as I get what I pay for. When the bottle says it has enough for 32 loads, I hate when I can only get about 10-15 large loads from the bottle. I have a family, I never do a small load of laundry!!! That is why I am so glad that I found Shaklee's Fresh Laundry Concentrate. Not only does it outpreform all other eco-friendly detergents (and believe me I have tried many!), but I get many more large loads from its bottle than from its competitors. I can even use a fragrance detergent again.

Visit my website at www.shaklee.net/melissa_ashour for more details about Shaklee's detergents and all of our other amazing products.

My Beach Trip Money Saving Tips

I'm back from my mini-vacation to Gulf Shores, AL. I had not been to Gulf Shores since I was a child. My family and I had a great time! To save money, we did the following:
1. We shared a condo unit with my sister-in-law's family.
2. We rented a condo with a full kitchen and cooked all of our meals. All of our food we brought from home. No need to grocery shop if you have staples in your pantry and refrigerator. Just pack up what you have at home and make meals from them. All we bought on our trip was fresh fruits and vegetables at the Farmer's Market.
3. Instead of spending money in the souvenir shops, we splurged on ice cream at the popular Scoops Ice Cream Shop. The kids were happy!!
4. We bought all our sand toys at the Dollar Tree before we left home.

I am always on the lookout for ways to save money!!!!!!
